The Body Shop Papaya Body Butter

While at “The Body Shop” I also got the body butter in “Papaya”. I’ve been using it for a week and thought I would share my thoughts on it.

“The Body Shop” makes the following claims for this product (Click HERE for info):

What is it: An intensive, creamy all-over body moisturizer. It absorbs into the skin easily, helping to condition, soften and smooth the skin providing up to 24 hours non-stop moisturization.
Key Ingredients:
  • Papaya seed oil - moisturises the skin.
  • Cocoa butter - Is an excellent moisturizer that melts at body temperature, leaving the skin feeling soft and silky smooth.
  • Shea butter - Moisturizes and helps soften the skin.
How To Use: Scoop out with your fingers and massage into your skin as often as required. Seals in the moisture.

Thoughts- I LOVED this butter! It smells really good and tropical, pairs nicely with the mango I think. I used the butter after each exfoliation and had great results. The product actually look and feels like butter. Once your rub it in your hands it warms up and glides onto your skin.  Goes on very easily and a little goes a long way. It's a great product and I highly recommend it.

The Body Shop Mango Body Scrub

Recently you seen that I went to “The Body Shop” for the first time and got a few products. I was really excited to get these products home and try them out. I’ve used the body scrub in “Mango” for a week and thought I would share my thoughts on it.

“The Body Shop” makes the following claims for this product (Click HERE for info):

Best if you want to: Have soft, glowing skin with this oil-based, soft-textured scrub that is packed with exfoliating salt grains and organic sugar.

Best for: very dry skin

How it works: Mango seed oil moisturizes and softens skin without being greasy. Community Trade organic cane sugar and salt grains gently exfoliate skin. Community Trade organic soy oil, rich in essential fatty acids, helps repair skin’s moisture barrier for smooth, supple skin.

Key Ingredients:

  • Mango Seed Oil - Moisturizes the skin.
  • Salt - Gently exfoliates the skin.
  • Organic soya oil - Has moisturizing and healing properties that make it ideal for intensive skin care treatments. It's also a source of income for organic farmers in Brazil.
  • Organic Sugar - Gently exfoliates the skin. Enables small-scale sugar cane growers to enjoy improved living conditions and to fund medical clinics.
  • Sunflower Seed Oil - Moisturizes and helps to soften the skin.

How To Use: Massage in circular movements over your body while in the bath or shower to help remove dead skin cells and boost circulation. Use two or three times per week for maximum effect. Regular exfoliating and massaging can help tone and firm the skin. Use after cleansing with Mango Bath & Shower Gel or Soap.

Thoughts- I LOVED this scrub! It smells really nice and tropical, makes me want to take a trip the beach even more. It wasn't abrasive like other scrubs I’ve used. In fact I used the exfoliating gloves that I got along with this product for extra exfoliation. It goes on very easily and a little goes a long way. The oils in it, leaves your skin feeling so silky smooth. It's a great product and I highly recommend it.

Butterfly Award

First ok I have to tell you how excited I was to receive a blogger award – SOOOO EXCITED!!! LOL I totally geeked out about it! I want to send a HUGE thank you to Jo at Plymouth Barbie Beauty Spot!! Thank you sooo much!!!!

Ok so the award she sent me was this SUPER cute Butterfly Award and after the week I’ve had it sure put a smile on my face.

Rules are simple: Link it back to the one who sent it to you and then pass it on to 7 people. Also, I have to write 15 random things about myself.

The 7 people I have decided to pass the award on to are:
15 random facts about me:
  1. My name is the same length as the alphabet, yea that’s right 26 letters LOL
  2. I love blog, and hope people enjoy reading my ramblings.
  3. I have an addiction to shopping, if you couldn’t tell by number of hauls.
  4. I love Mexican (or should I say Tex Mex) food.
  5. My favorite color is blue.
  6. If I could go anywhere in the world I would go to Italy or Ireland.
  7. I have lost approx. 35% of my hearing in both ears.
  8. I am the youngest of 3 and the only girl.
  9. I’ve been with my boyfriend for 5 years and we have a dog named Snuggles together.
  10. I LOVE anything Cinderella or Wizard of Oz.
  11. Until this year my make up collection contained Cover Girl foundation, Victoria’s Secret lip glosses, Maybelline mascara and a few Cover Girl eye shadows in all brown shades.
  12. I name my cars; my first car was a red Grand Prix “Ladybug”, Black Tiburon “Tibby”, Black Grand Am “Susie”, Orange G6 “GiGi”, and Blue Ford Edge “Eddie”. Not the most creative but I like ‘em.
  13. I taught myself how to crochet.
  14. I love the St. Louis Cardinals Baseball Team – in fact I was at game 3 of the World Series when the Cardinals went to the World Series in 200, we lost that year but won in 2006.
  15. Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday; because I get to be around my family and have a great time, then we stay up all night and go Black Friday shopping around 2 or 3 am.

So a few months ago I purchased a BeautyBar.com e-certificate worth $40 for only $20. I had never used the site before, but they actually have some good quality products available (philosophy, Stila, LORAC, etc…) I had my mind made up I was getting some Stile products, however once I got on the site and started shopping around I found this color set from LORAC, the “Close Up: Real Life to Red Carpet Eye Tutorial” set.

The set included:

  • Behind the Scenes Eye Primer
  • Starry-Eyed Baked Eye Shadow Trio in Movie Star
  • Special Effects Mascara in Black
  • Front of the Line PRO Eyeliner in Black
  • Double Ended Blending/ Smudging Brush

Front

Opened to Cat Eye Tutorial
Special Effects Mascara in Black
Front of the Line PRO Eyeliner in Black
Behind the Scenes Eye Primer
Double Ended Brush
Starry-Eyed Baked Eye Shadow Trio in Movie Star

This kit also includes a step by step look tutorial. There are 3 different looks and you can remove the look from the book and stick to a mirror, it’s like a window cling.

My thoughts:

  • Behind the Scenes Eye Primer (retail $20): I felt like the eye primer was good, but nothing great. I currently use Urban Decay Primer Potion and I don't feel like it lasted longer than my UD primer. I don't really have anything bad to say about it either. It did work well.

  • Starry-Eyed Baked Eye Shadow Trio in Movie Star: I like these colors and they compliment each other nicely.  I don't think you can buy this separately, at least I couldn't find it. Might be hard to replace.

  • Special Effects Mascara in Black: Left my lashes clumpy and it flaked on me. I had black flakes on my face, not a lot but some. I didn't like this mascara at all. I don't think you can buy this separately, at least I couldn't find it. No love loss there.

  • Front of the Line PRO Eyeliner in Black: What is the old saying, "if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all?" So I’m going to stay quiet - now that just wouldn't be me then LOL. The formula is runny almost watery. Every time I opened it, and no mater how I opened it, liquid liner flew everywhere. I had black spots on my clothes, my desk and even the walls. I don't think you can buy this separately, at least I couldn't find it. To sum this one up FAIL.

  • Double Ended Blending/ Smudging Brush: Another fail. Would have been better to put a q-tip in the set. The brush was just a poor quality brush and did not work for me. Maybe I'm spoiled by my MAC and Sigma brushes, but I did not like this brush. I don't think you can buy this separately, at least I couldn't find it. Which there is probably a good reason for?

  • Tutorial Guide: I did like this. I liked how it gave you step by step instructions on the looks and the looks it shows you are very easy. The steps are also very easy to follow along to.

Overall I would have to say I did not like 1/2 of the items in this set, but the other half I did like. The only reason I would purchase this set again would be to get the eye shadow trio, but I didn't love it enough to cause me to spend $36 to get it. Just my opinion

Have a fabulous day!!!

NOTD: Essie "French Affair"

Essie "French Affair"

So recently I got Essie "French Affair" for 50% off and decided to try it out last night. I cut off all my nails because they were spliting and chipping. So in an effort to nurse my fragile nail back to health I used Sally Hansen's Continuous Treatment Strengther as a base. Then applied 3 coats of Essie "French Affair" and finally topped off with Seche Vite.

I really like this polish. The formula is nice and creamy and applies smoothly. I would call this color a pale Barbie Pink. :)

Have you tried this color? What did you think?

Essie Polish Swatches - Sand Tropez, Topless & Barefoot and Fiji

Left to Right: Fiji, Topless and Barefoot, Sand Tropez
So as you can see in the bottles these colors looks simular but are so different. I personally am not a fan of the "Sand Tropez", its a grayish tan. The gray didn't look too good on my pale skin (as you can see). I think the "Topless and Barefoot" is a nice neutral color. I wouldn't ware this a lot in the summer, only because I like bright colors. Lastly is "Fiji". I like this color, it's almost white with a hint of pink.
Left to Right: Fiji, Topless and Barefoot, Sand Tropez

Left to Right: Sand Tropez, Topless and Barefoot, Fiji

I like the Essie nail polishes but they aren't my favorite. Some colors are better than others. I would also recommend you to swatch before buying. Some of the colors dry differently than they look in the bottle.

Thanks for reading!!!

Ulta Haul

My guiltiest pleasure, besides ice cream, would have to be Ulta. I guess because I can sit in there for hours and just look around, try new things, get some great deals and just have me time. J

I stopped in just to look around with a friend, who doesn’t really wear makeup so I wanted to show her some inexpensive ways to wear colors. I had fun showing her and telling her some tips and tricks I’ve learned from some of you AMAZING people. She even let me do her eyes for her because she wasn’t sure, but of course I forgot to take pictures. She thought it looked nice and thought you had to wear a lot of make up to pull off colors. At the end of this post you will also see how we ended the night.

I've been wanting to try the Revlon Just Bitten lip stains for a while, so I finally bought them. I got them in "Flame" and "Victorian". They were on sale for 2 for $12, normally $8.99 each.

Then I got a few items off of my wish list.

I got two nail polishes from Essie, "Smooth Sailing" and "Braziliant". Not on sale, $8 each.

Then over to NYX I went, and boy did I go crazy LOL! All NYX products were buy one, get one 1/2 off.
I got two new lip sticks in "Spellbound" and "Gem" - these I got for $2.99 each (after sale).
I got three new Mega Shine Lip Glosses in "French Kiss", "LaLa", and "Perfect" - got these for $4.12 each (after sale).
I got three new Soft Matte Lip Creams in "Tokyo", "San Paulo", and "Istanbul" I wish I would have been paying more attention when I was putting these into my basket and when I was checking out because "Tokyo" and "Istanbul" look almost identical, but i haven't swatched yet - got these for $4.12 each (after sale).

I had a coupon for $1 Nicole by OPI and Ulta had these on sale for $5.99, so I just had to get one. I thought this pink was really pretty. It might be hard to tell but it is iridescent looking (at least in the bottle it does).

Ulta is running a promotion "Smashbox Lip Enhansing Gloss Duo" in shades "Lust" and "Couture" for only $10.

I also found this AWESOME Physicians Formula BONUS pack that includes both a bronzer and blush for $13.49 (normally the bronzer is $13.49 at Ulta) and I have a $1 off coupon.

For some reason my picture of my Navy Shatter by OPI didn't turn out, but I am excited to say that I got one of the three colors from the blues collection. I REALLY want turquoise, but they didn't have it and I was still really excited to get the Navy. They had the red, but I'm not a big fan of red so I decided to pass on this one.

Well that is all for my weekend haul! Did you go shopping, if so what did you get? What is your favorite guilty pleasure?

However, my day didn't end at Ulta. After a whole day of shopping we went and had some margaritas. I guess I still had The Body Shop on my mind because I got the Strawberry Mango Margarita.

Hope everyone is have a fabulous day!!

Body Shop Haul

So one of the store I stopped in this weekend was "The Body Shop". I had gotten a Groupon worth $40 a few months ago and decided I wanted to check it out since I had never been there before. They were actually having a pretty good sale, so I was really excited about that.

So they were having a clearance on some of their cosmetics. I was able to pick this bronzer up for only $5. I wanted it because it is matte. Sometimes I don't want shimmer and it seems like all of my bronzer has shimmer.

They had this blush for only $1 (and you know I had to get it since it was only $1)

I also found these eye shadow palettes for only $5 each. I got a neutral palette and a smoky palette.

The whole reason I got the Groupon was to try their body scrubs and body butters. I was set that I was getting the strawberry when I went in and left with the Mango Body Scrub and the Papaya Body Butter. Both of these were on sale for $10, normally $16 so I thought that was pretty awesome. I like the smell of these, obviously  - thats why I bought them. I will further review them later.

The sales person suggested that I get these gloves for an even deeper exfoliation, so I did. They were $5.

When I went into the store I was told about an amazing cosmetic brush deal that they had going on and of course I fell for it hook line and sinker. LOL. It's a 5 piece brush set that comes in the cute little carry case. I have not yet tested these brushes, but looking forward to testing them out. The large one, on the left, was for sale in the store for $24 and this whole set cost me $15 - couldn't pass it up.

The sales lady also threw in a sample of one of their new fragrances.

After using my Groupon, it only cost my $16 out of my pocket on Saturday (if you include the cost of the Groupon it was $36 - which I think is still a great deal!)

Have you ever shopped at The Body Shop? What did you love or hate? They had some eye shadows that I wanted to try, but felt like I could hold off on them. It was their Eye Shadow Shimmers and when combined with eye liner they transform into almost a neon effect - hard to describe. Now that I'm talking about these I'm going to have to go back and get them LOL They are currently on sale buy 3 get 2 free so you could get all 5 for $4.80 each. I wish I would have taken photos to show you, but I wasn't thinking.

Hope you are having a fabulous day!!!

Love.

Cover Girl Lip Collection Swatches

As you seen in a recent post of mine I got some great deals on Cover Girl Lip products. I finally sat down and swatched them for you. Hope you enjoy!

Up first are the two lip pencils that I got. I think these are good pencils. They glide on smoothly, they are creamy and have nice pigmentation. The color doesn’t last a long time, but I still think they are good lip pencils.

I also got five lipsticks. I like these lipsticks. Cover Girl has a large selection of colors, so you can pretty much find a color you would like. The bases of the lipstick are colored to match the actual color of the lipstick, instead of a stupid stick like most. The formula is nice and creamy. There is not unpleasant smell, which is a bonus for me LOL!!! The color stays on for a a little while, depending on what you are doing. With that being said after I swatched these, I cleaned my lips and went to bed, woke up the next morning and my lips were still a bright pink. Everyone thought I wore lipstick to work, which I never do – kinda funny (guess you had to be there). Anyways here are the swatches.
